From the basement of a small farm house in the Interlake, Blue Steele started off as hobby project to keep four guys busy on weekends.
Although the group has seen a few different incarnations since early 2007, they have the same goals that have fueled them through a successful and busy few years: To Entertain and to have fun.
Powered by three-part vocals and guided by solid song selection and musicianship, Blue Steele rocks the prairies and guarantees to please.
Kyle Chamberlain - Lead Vocals
Born and raised in a prairie town, Kyle has been involved in music as long as he can remember. During his early years Kyle played the drums in several punk/alternative bands. During his college years he made the switch to lead vocals and guitar in Brandon based bands and soon realized his musical talent and passion for performance.
After graduating from college Kyle moved to Winnipeg to pursue his career in media and quickly emersed himself in the music scene of that Manitoba's capital had to offer. This is where he came together with the other members of Blue Steele in their journey to entertain and have fun, "We all play music because that's what we love to do. We work hard so that people can enjoy what they hear, and that's what it's all about."
Matt Wojcik - Drums and Vocals
Behind the kit for Blue Steele is Matt "The Animal" Wojcik. In the years that Matt has been drumming he has perfected a hard hitting, classic rock sound that he has infused with aspects of his own personality. Matt's biggest influence is Neil Peart of Rush, however he is also influenced by many other famous drummers.
Matt pulls out all the stops in his drum solo near the end of a Saturday night, and he wishes that the show could feature pyrotechnics and explosions, lucky his stick tricks provide enough flashiness for now.
Matt is currently involved in a few side projects, playing both live and in the studio. He plans on continuing with music and one day hopes to tour the world.
Jim Popowich - Bass Guitar and Vocals
Growing up in Winnipeg’s North End, Jim honed his early skills playing in numerous garage bands throughout high school and quickly graduated to playing in local clubs. Over many decades Jim has dedicated his time to various bands & musical projects utilizing his skills on guitar, bass and vocals.
No stranger to the bars from Ontario to Saskatchewan, Jim feels the sound, set list and stage performance of Blue Steele is what the crowd really likes and is the reason for return engagements.
The nickname "Hollywood" was given to Jim for his resemblance to Martin Sheen. Jim however says Martin looks like him. Jim is one of original founding members of Blue Steele and says the hard work has really paid off because after all these years he still feels the "rush" of performing and finds it's the most satisfying experience.
Brent Barton - Guitar and Vocals
Who? That's what we asked too!
